Samford CARES exists to help students thrive. An important component of thriving is nutrition. We are committed to providing access to nutritious food and accessible meal options. Proper nutrition is essential to brain development, physical wellness, and emotional wellbeing, but lots of college students struggle with food insecurity. Food insecurity can happen when there are unexpected expenses like a car repair or a medical bill, changes in income or financial aid, or an insufficient meal plan. This can happen to anyone; over 30% of Samford students reported some level of food insecurity in a recent National College Health Assessment on Campus. You are not alone.

Don't Go Hungry

Samford CARES is partnering with Swipe Out Hunger to help alleviate food insecurity in our student population. Swipe Out Hunger is a national initiative to help educate and alleviate food insecurity on college campuses through sharing and donating meal swipes. We believe that addressing food insecurity head-on, works to “nurture persons,” and help students remain successful during the unexpected challenges of college.
