Community College Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Transfers

In an effort to expand partnerships with the two-year community college system, Samford University has streamlined the path for community college students to pursue a bachelor’s degree in either a traditional or online program.

Students attending schools who have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samford will be guaranteed admission upon meeting university requirements. Samford is committed to providing transfer pathways, pre-transfer advising and scholarships to support the transition. The partnership also means students who have earned specified Applied Associate of Science degrees are eligible for full degree pathways in accordance with the plans of study included in the MOU agreements. It also encourages reverse transfer agreements, in which students who transfer before graduating from community college can complete their associate degree at Samford.

FAQs

Credits

Samford is dedicated to maximizing the transfer of eligible credits. The Office of the Registrar looks at four components when evaluating courses for your transfer into Samford: matching course descriptions, institutionally accredited colleges and universities, a grade of C- or above and no remedial or technical courses. AP credits may be accepted with eligible test scores.

High School Information

Students with fewer than 24 completed credit hours will need to submit official high school transcripts and test scores.

Transfer Credits

Students transferring from other institutions must arrange to have official transcripts from each college/university attended sent to Samford University’s Office of Admission.

Please note that an official transfer credit evaluation cannot be issued until transcripts have been received from every institution from which you have earned credit.

For Samford Online programs: Many courses from regionally accredited schools will transfer to your degree. Students who have earned an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) from a state institution with a minimum GPA of 2.5 may be eligible for the completer degree program (earning your bachelor’s degree within two years).

Only academic credit with a grade of C- or better earned from a regionally accredited institution will be considered. Please discuss any vocational/technical classes found in some short certificate or applied science degree programs with your Samford Online recruitment coordinator.
