Samford Abroad
Go Farther
Samford Abroad is your passport to a life-changing experience. Whether you’re studying art in South Africa, Spanish in Spain, service-learning in Costa Rica, or working at an international internship in London, studying abroad with Samford can enrich your academic experience and create a lifetime of memories.
Studying abroad is an innovative educational experience that provides global learning opportunities critical to a student’s success in the 21st century. Students who have studied abroad have a deeper intercultural understanding, develop a more thorough grasp of global issues and are better equipped to succeed in the global workforce of the future.
Short Term Faculty-Led Programs
Core to the Samford Abroad experience is the community among students and faculty during an international program. On a faculty-led program, Samford faculty facilitate programs for cohorts of students, teaching subject matter in their area of expertise. Students can study courses that satisfy their major and minor academic requirements as well as general education credits.
Semester Programs
The flagship of the Samford Abroad portfolio is the semester-long Samford in London program. Students in the Samford in London program live, work and study at the Daniel House, a five-story Victorian home in central London, roughly a mile from Kensington Palace. Course content includes theatre, art, history, literature and more, all in one of the world’s most connected global cities. Samford in London students also participate in an international internship in their area of study.
The newest addition to the Samford Abroad portfolio is the Finca de Samford, a 10,000-square-foot home on 14 acres of mountainous countryside in Ciudad Colón, near the capital city of San Jose. Semester students studying at the Finca de Samford will learn about the diversity of Costa Rica, Spanish language, industries, agriculture, the arts and other sectors, while engaging in experiential learning opportunities in Ciudad Colón and the great San José metropolitan area.
Affiliate and Exchange Programs
Samford also offers opportunities for summer and semester-long programs, as well as international internships and missions, through affiliate and exchange programs. These partnerships prepare Samford students to further their education with the world as their classroom. Exchange and affiliate programs are perfect for students seeking an independent study abroad experience. With a variety of offerings, affiliate and exchange programs widen the possibilities of discipline, location and term.
World Languages and Cultures Programs
These immersive summer language programs in Spain and Argentina allow students to advance their Spanish language proficiency by studying at a host university or study center, living in a homestay and learning from local faculty. Students travel alongside their peers and participate in programs organized through an affiliate program provider which provides on-site staff, homestay placements and student support.
