Athletics
The university fields 17 NCAA Division I varsity sports—eight men’s and nine women’s—that compete in the historic Southern Conference. Ranked first in Alabama, Samford’s athletic teams earned a 98% Graduation Success Rate (GSR) by the NCAA.

Samford Announces Recipients Of 2024 Alumni Awards
Samford University has named three outstanding alumni who will be honored as the 2024 alumni award recipients. The honorees will be celebrated during Homecoming weekend. The awards are presented in three categories: Alumnus of the Year, Outstanding Young Alumnus of the Year, and Humanitarian of the Year.
President Beck A. Taylor Selected for National Commission for Faith-Based Institutions
Recently, the American Council on Education (ACE) launched the ACE Commission on Faith-based Colleges and Universities. Among those chosen to serve on the commission’s inaugural executive committee is Samford University President Beck A. Taylor who will work alongside other university presidents to foster collaboration between faith-based and nonreligious colleges and universities.
