Juris Doctor
Cumberland School of Law’s Juris Doctor (JD) program blends rigorous academics with practical training to prepare you for success in the legal profession. From our first-year summer start option to nationally recognized advocacy and legal writing programs, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to excel. Choose from eight joint degree paths, three study abroad opportunities and hands-on experience through clinics, externships and public interest work. Graduate practice-ready and equipped to serve with integrity and purpose.
Legal Clinics
Cumberland School of Law’s growing number of legal clinics give students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings while serving those in need. Under the guidance of experienced faculty, students provide legal assistance in a variety of legal areas. These clinics not only prepare you to practice law with confidence but also allow you to make a meaningful impact in the community.
Academic Centers
Cumberland School of Law is home to two innovative legal academic centers dedicated to advancing justice and shaping policy. The Center for Children, Law & Ethics produces influential scholarship and guidance on issues impacting children, while the Land Use & Natural Resources Law Center addresses critical environmental and land use challenges. These centers provide opportunities for research, advocacy and real-world impact.
Online Master’s Degrees
In partnership with Samford Online, Cumberland School of Law offers two online master’s degrees and a certificate program designed for working professionals. Our Master of Laws (LLM) for lawyers and Master of Studies in Law (MSL) for nonlawyers provide specialized concentrations in financial services, health care, higher education and legal operations. Flexible, fully online programs help you gain the knowledge and credentials to elevate your career.
