Samford's Visual Arts Department will present a lecture by Graham Boettcher, William Cary Hulsey Curator of American Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art, Wednesday Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. in Bolding Studio, third floor of Bonnie Bolding Swearingen Hall.
Boettcherwill preview the upcoming BMA exhibition Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness: American Art from the Yale University Art Gallery.
The exhibition, opening Oct. 4 and closing Jan. 10, will explore U.S. history through hundreds of paintings, photographs, and other artwork from the renowned collection of Yale University Art Gallery, including John Trumbull's famous depiction of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The Samford lecture is free-of-charge and open to the public.
