Samford University senior Amberleigh Kirk of Peachtree City, Ga., has been named a 2006 Undergraduate Fellow by the Fund for Theological Education (FTE).
The international relations/French double major is one of 70 students nationwide to receive a fellowship as part of FTE's efforts to encourage gifted young people to explore ministry as a vocation.
Kirk received a $1,500 stipend to use for educational expenses or a special experience related to ministry. She also received $500 in mentoring funds, which supported a summer internship with Wellspring women's ministry in Atlanta.
The fellowship also covered expense for Kirk to attend the FTE conference on excellence in ministry, which was held in June at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas.
Following graduation from Samford, Kirk plans to pursue a graduate degree in church history and Biblical studies.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kirk.
