Samford University senior Crystal Lorraine Arbo of Hueytown was selected to receive a 2006-07 UPS Scholarship valued at $2,750.
Arbo is one of about 655 UPS Scholars at private colleges and universities across the nation. The scholarships are funded annually by the UPS Educational Endowment Fund, which was established by United Parcel Service at the Foundation for Independent Higher Education (FIHE) in Washington, D.C. FIHE administers the program in Alabama in cooperation with the Alabama Association of Independent Colleges.
Recipients are chosen on the basis of excellence in academic achievement and worthiness.
Arbo, an exercise science and sports medicine major, is the daughter of Catherine Arbo Cook.
At Samford, she is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Hypatia and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies, Gamma Sigma Sigma service sorority and the Student Recruitment Team.
