BIRMINGHAM---Samford University's Resource Center for Pastoral Excellence will sponsor a series of three workshops on Christian stewardship in 2006.

"Living Generously" is the theme of the Monday evening sessions scheduled for Jan. 23, Feb. 20 and May 1. Registration deadline for the first workshop is Jan. 18.

The workshops are designed to introduce pastors and lay leaders to biblical resources for living generously, practical strategies for giving generously, and new opportunities for investing in the generosity of others.

Organizers suggest that congregations send two people, a pastoral leader and a lay leader, to each workshop.

Specific topics to be covered are:

Jan. 23, Living Generously, led by Fisher Humphreys, professor, Samford's Beeson Divinity School; and Kenneth Roxburgh, chair, Samford department of religion.

Feb. 20, More Than the Numbers: Values-Based Estate Planning, led by Stan Davis, Samford director of gift planning, and Dennis Price, professor, Samford School of Business.

May 1, Making Dreams Come True: Grant Seeking That Works, led by John Harrison, director of development, First Priority of Alabama;  Penny Marler, director, Resource Center for Pastoral Excellence; and Terry Morgan, Samford academic grants officer.

Each session will meet 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. in room N101, Beeson Divinity School. Participants may register for any one or all three of the sessions.

Registration fee is $100 per workshop, or $250 for all three. The cost includes registration for two persons, boxed suppers at each workshop and a follow-up meeting for all participants on May 22.
