Samford University's Beeson Divinity School will host the inaugural session of the International Baptist-Catholic Conversation Dec. 11-15.The week-long gathering is the first meeting in a five-year conversation process sponsored by the Baptist World Alliance and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
The conversation team will include about 10 Catholics and 10 Baptists from around the world. The group of theologians and church leaders will discuss shared beliefs and ecclesial differences, "and will seek greater mutual understanding on a variety of issues," according to Beeson dean Dr. Timothy George.
George is one of several North Americans who will participate as Baptist representatives.
