Prior to attending Samford, Claire was a student at Hartselle High School where she served as Drum Major, Clarinet Section Leader, and Band Librarian in the marching and concert bands. She was also treasurer of the National Honor Society chapter, a Mu Alpha Theta member, and a school ambassador. She loves playing piano and served on the worship team at DaystarChurch. Claire also played in the Hartselle High Jazz band. While at Samford, she hopes to strengthen her relationship with Christ, grow in her community, and learn as much as she can!

Braydon Armstrong attended Deerfield-Windsor School in Albany, Georgia. He is an Eagle Scout and graduated as an AP Scholar. Braydon worked at his church for over two years as a youth intern and contemporary bassist and was captain of his high school's mock trial team for two years. His major is Philosophy and Religion, and after college, Braydon plans to enroll in law school and defend churches in the court system.

I was named a member of the National Honor Society, an AP scholar with distinction, and a National Merit Recommended Scholar. I enjoy reading and writing and hope to become an author after graduating from college. I'm excited to be at Samford so that I can learn more both about academics and how to spread the love of Jesus.

Shannon Boutwell
Major: Violin Performance and Piano Performance with Pedagogy
Hometown: Helena, Alabama
Prior to beginning her Samford studies, Shannon was a Harvest Homeschool student from Helena, AL. She graduated in spring 2022 with top academic honors and was accepted into the Eta Sigma Alpha National Honor Society, the National Homeschool Science Honor Society, and the National Honor Society of High School Scholars. She was selected as Samford University’s 2022 Miller-Shepherd piano scholar and is also the inaugural Nancy Wingard scholar. As a competitive violinist and pianist, Shannon has won numerous awards including first place in the GCSS Regional Concerto Competition, first place in the Bush Hills Music Club Competition, and the Allegro Music Club Scholarship. She is a five-time winner in the AMTA State Piano Solo Competition, a two-time winner in the BMTA Musical Miniatures Competition, and a three-time winner in the Donna Shugart Sonata Competition. As a soloist, Shannon was a featured performer for Violins of Hope, performed as an on-screen character in feature film “Quiet Nights” (directed by T.W. Ballew) and played violin for the movie soundtrack, and was the soloist for BHEC’s “L’Chaim!” 2021. An avid orchestral violinist, Shannon has played in the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra for five years and began serving as the concertmaster at age fifteen. She was also accepted into Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra in 2021, and she is a member of the Samford University Orchestra, the Lakeside Orchestra, RUF Worship Band, and other local and state ensembles. She is the founder and first violinist of the Candy Crush Quartet, a string quartet dedicated to music education and children’s ministry, and she serves as a first-grade Sunday school teacher and children’s worship director at Lakeside Baptist Church. Eager to combine elite musical training, passion for the arts, and ministry, Shannon runs a private music studio where she holds a roster of piano and violin students of all ages. In addition to her musical and academic pursuits, Shannon has been a dancer for ten years and trained in ballet, pointe, lyrical/contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, and violin en pointe. Her career goals include solo and orchestral performing on piano and violin, working in children’s and music ministry, and founding/directing a school of the arts.

She was involved in her school’s Student Leadership Council, Dothan Adolescent Clinic’s Youth Advisory Council and Covenant United Methodist’s children’s ministry. She was nominated her school’s FCA athlete of the year and played on the varsity volleyball team her freshman year to her senior year. Vivian plans to pursue a career in Women’s Health and research in neuroscience.

Mary Claire graduated from Valwood School where she was a member of Science Olympiad, the Synovus Bank Board, and Valwood Acts-a school service club. She is looking forward to studying business at Samford because she has so many exciting paths to take with a business major. She decided to come to Samford because of her admiration for the Christian-based curriculum and the prioritization of student involvement. At Samford, Mary Claire plans to get involved with campus ministries, Greek life, and as many other fun activities as possible!

Lillie Inman

Prior to her time at Samford, Lillie served as her high school’s National Honor Society President, Service Prefect, and the student writer of her high school’s weekly column in the local newspaper. Lillie is also an alumnus of the Tennessee Governor’s School for Humanities. Additionally, she participated in Tennessee All East and All State choir, played violin and cello in her school’s strings ensemble, and taught violin lessons at a nonprofit arts school. Lillie was also named a Scholar Athlete all four years of high school, lettering in both basketball and golf. Beyond this, Lillie was heavily involved in her church, where she served as a teacher in preschool and elementary aged children’s ministry and as a musician in the worship band.

While at Samford, she intends to double major in Classics and French with a career goal of international diplomacy.

Annalee is currently studying Studio Art and looks forward to exploring her future through Samford University and the Fellows program.

After graduation, she plans to get her master’s degree in speech pathology to be a Pediatric Speech Pathologist.

She hopes to one day incorporate her love for medicine, serving others, and aviation into a life of ministry. After college, Anna plans to attend medical school.

Before coming to Samford, Bethany graduated with honors from the Westminster School at Oak Mountain. While there, she served as the secretary of the National Honor Society and a community chair of our house system. Additionally, she aided in establishing the school's first academic journal, where she held the position of managing editor. Upon graduation, she was awarded Best Senior Thesis for her work entitled, "American Youth as the Salvation of Democracy." She also received the inaugural Bethany Waters Medal of Excellence, which was established by The Church at Brook Hills in her honor and recognizes high school students who dedicate years of service as a children's ministry leader. She hopes to see and learn as much as possible while at Samford, and cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for her!

Abi is a 2023 graduate of Bayshore Christian School, where she was a member of the Alabama Junior Classical League and of the National Honor Society. She served two years as the director of the theater program, one as a varsity athletic captain, and was a three-time recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award. At Samford, Abi plans to study English and writing, but after graduation hopes to earn her master’s and doctoral degrees with the intention of eventually teaching literature on the collegiate level.

Abigail Kirby

Abigail is a freshman University Fellow at Samford University. Previously, she was a part of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the National French Honor Society, and Secretary of Thespian Honor Society. She was also selected as the AATF Outstanding Senior in French. Abigail plans to study communication sciences and disorders and French during her time at Samford. She hopes to study abroad and improve her French. She plans to attend graduate school.

While at Samford, she’s working in the Samford Sports Social Media/Marketing Dept. and plans to work in some form of communication media after graduation.

While attending Samford, Belle plans to study Psychology and after graduation get her Master degree to hopefully become a psychologist.

Blake was also a AP Scholar with Distinction, member of his high school's Culinary program, and Vice President of the Entrepreneurship Club. While in high school, he also served for four years on the Paul J. Hagerty High School Soccer Team, where he was awarded Defensive MVP, Conference Team, All-District Team, and All-State Academic Team awards. While attending Samford, Blake plans to student Business Management with a Sports Marketing/Analytics Concentration. In addition to the University Fellows, he will be a member of Ragland Scholars, Global Mission Scholars, and the IMPACT program. Following graduation, Blake aspires to work in sports business as a member of a professional soccer team's front office or a member of non-profit sports organization.

In her free time, Caroline enjoys reading mystery novels and classics, spending time outdoors, and playing with her cat Elly May and her dog Winston.

He was the Senior Patrol Leader of Boy Scout Troop 109, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a ministry and media team member at City Hope Church. At Spanish Fort High School, Colin was the manager of the yearbook, class historian, member of the Math Honors Society, member of the National Honors Society, and a leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. During his time at Samford, Colin plans to study in the field of finance. After graduating, Colin plans to pursue a career in financial advising and wealth management.

Ethan graduated with a full International Baccalaureate Diploma from Signal Mountain Middle/High School where he served as an officer in the Beta Club and International Thespian Society. Ethan performed in numerous theatre productions at his school, was counselor and assistant director for a youth theatre camp, and showcased his vocal skills in his home church, where he also led the tech team. He is also an Eagle Scout and served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for his troop. Ethan is studying psychology at Samford and plans to attend graduate school in psychology or counseling before pursuing a career that integrates his varied interests.

Before attending Samford, Greta was homeschooled from ages 5-18. She was valedictorian and class president, and is a recent graduate of the Classical Conversations Challenge program. While in high school, Greta attended a two-year wilderness leadership development program at Camp Brookwoods and Deer Run in Alton, NH. She also served as historian for her local Children of the American Revolution chapter. At Samford, Greta plans to study biology and art. After graduation she hopes to become a field biologist and natural illustrator.

Kaci was homeschooled for every year of her education prior to Samford, excelling in and teaching subjects like writing, grammar, and Latin. Aside from schooling, Kaci was very involved with a performing arts studio in her hometown of Miami, Florida. Kaci's contribution to this studio was significant, ranging from acting and managing a social media account to directing and teaching of other students. During her time at Samford, she plans to further her studies in theatre and to begin her career in the arts.

Kate lives in the southwest metro area of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Before coming to Samford, Kate was an active student at her high school. She served as the Chair of the Student Ambassadors Committee, a member of the National Honor Society, and Chair of the Spiritual Life Committee. She is recognized as Southwest Christian High School's 2023 Salutatorian and earned a World Language Learner award for her commitment to studying Spanish. At Samford, Kate plans to study Communication Sciences and Disorders in hopes to become a Speech Pathologist. She also will continue to learn Spanish and cannot wait to see how she can marry it into her career as an SLP.

Before coming to Samford, Kate was an honor roll student attending Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy, where she served as prefect in her school’s house system. She played varsity basketball for three years and graduated top of her class. Kate intends to study Journalism and Mass Communication at Samford. After graduation, she plans to be a travel writer and photographer for missions organizations, using written and visual storytelling to share the work that God is doing around the world.

Prior to attending Samford, Lauren graduated from Girls Preparatory School where she was a member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Cum Laude. She was also an AP Capstone Diploma recipient and held presidential roles in Mock Trial, Model United Nations, and Science Club. She spent her free time reading, serving on her church’s Youth Program Team, and practicing the guitar. Lauren is an English major and hopes to either become a book editor or pursue a career in law.

At Samford, Leah plans to study Business, focusing on either Business Management or Marketing. After college, Leah hopes to start her own business.

Lillian Green

In high school, Lillian loved serving in her church as a student leader, as president of her Beta Club, and as captain of her cheer team. She is excited to find similar groups at Samford. The connections made in each of those groups inspired her to study Psychology at Samford. After graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in counseling to work in either private practice or with a church.

Prior to coming to Samford, Lindy graduated in May of 2022 and in September of 2022 she moved to Lancashire, England where she lived for 10 months attending a Bible School called Capernwray Hall. Bible school came to an end in June of 2023 and Lindy then spent this past summer working at a bed and breakfast in Normandy, France. While in high school, Lindy was a member of the National Honors Society and participated in Student Government as Sophomore class president and Junior class Vice President. When not studying, Lindy can often be found cooking and baking, reading, writing, or going on long walks in the forest back home. While attending Samford, Lindy plans to study English Literature with a Film Studies concentration and a minor in French. After graduation, Lindy will pursue a masters degree in film studies and screenwriting all the while participating in the production side of the film industry and writing screenplays.

Before coming to Samford, Meghan graduated as salutatorian of her class at Girls Preparatory School. There she was a member of both the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, and co-president of the GPS Science Club. During high school she also studied for and received her nidan ranking in Five Animal Kenpo and performed classical guitar. While at Samford, she intends to study Finance.

Meredith Hudson

Prior to beginning her Samford courses, Meredith was a University Church Christian Academy homeschool student. She graduated in 2023 with academic honors and served as President of the Zeta Mu Chapter of Eta Sigma Alpha National Honor Society. As a bluegrass fiddler for thirteen years, she has placed in as well as won numerous fiddle and clogging competitions throughout the southeast and is the 2022-2023 Alabama State Buck Dancing Champion. Meredith participated in Meals on Wheels for nine years, served as an ambassador for the University of Alabama’s LEAP Program, attended TeenPact Leadership Schools in Tennessee and Alabama, was Secretary-Treasurer of the Nationalist Party at Alabama Girls State, was a certified lifeguard, and served as a Dual Enrollment Ambassador for Shelton State Community College. Beyond this, Meredith was the 2020 Alabama State Racquetball Champion in the Women’s Singles B Division. Currently, she is the fiddle player in Kings Mountain Bluegrass Band, performs as a violinist at many weddings, and participates in the Samford University Orchestra. Meredith’s career goals while at Samford include earning her degree in music; furthermore, she plans to pursue her master’s degree in business.

Michael Mellinger

At Michael’s highschool, he was the president of the Science National Honor Society, chaplain for Beta Club and National Honor Society, a member of several other honor societies, a karate instructor, and a student leader in the Church and school respectively. Right now, he is studying neuroscience along a premed track. He aspires to attend medical school and become a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation doctor. Once he has attained his degree, he hopes to participate on medical missions, both domestically and abroad.

Prior to coming to Samford, Presley was actively involved in the children ministry at her hometown church. She is also a member of the National Reining Horse Association and spent a great deal of time reining her horse in local events. She was a Dean’s list member, and an Honors student. While attending Samford, Presley plans to study Law and History, as well as double minor in philosophy and art. History is very important to her because she believes that one must learn from the past in order to better the present and future. She also has a strong desire to improve the education system in America. Therefore, after graduation, Presley aspires to attend law school in order to be equipped to write policies that will better America as whole through bettering the education system.

She was a four year member of her high school's tennis team, where she was nominated team captain. While at Samford, Sara Kate intends to study Biology on a pre-dental track. Succeeding graduation, Sara Kate aspires to gain a graduate education from dental school in pursuit of becoming a pediatric dentist or orthodontist.

Virginia Riggar attended Franklin High School before attending Safmrod University, where she participated in the swim team, and captained the team her senior year. She was apart of National Honor Society, several community service clubs, and earned her seal of biliteracy and AP scholar with distinction in her senior year. Virginia plans to study biology at Samford, and also plans to minor in nutrition. After earning her bachelors degree, she plans to enroll in graduate school to become a physician's assistant to one day be a PA in dermatology.

Isabella is a 2024 graduate of Hebron Christian Academy where her honors included Valedictorian, the STAR Student Award and AP Scholar with Distinction. Along with leadership roles in Mu Alpha Theta and the National Spanish Honors Society, Isabella lettered in varsity tennis and was named the all region team her junior and senior seasons. During her time at Samford, Isabella is excited to study History and looks forward to taking advantage of the Samford Abroad program. She plans to use her degree to attend law school in the future.

Hannah Brown

Before coming to Samford, Hannah was homeschooled from third through twelfth grade. She loves reading classics, creative writing and journalism. She is a competitive fencer and has traveled all over the country for competitions. She also enjoys sewing, knitting, and drinking English breakfast tea. On Sundays, she teaches Catechesis of the Good Shepherd to the three to five year olds at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. She is currently undecided about her major but has many interests including English, Philosophy, and Classics.

Jackson Clark

Hometown: Flower Mound, TX
Prior to attending Samford, Jackson was an AP scholar with distinction, National Merit Commended, and one of two recipients of the Distinguished Student Award for the 2023-2024 school year. While in High School, he won the TAPPS League State Championship in original oratory for sophomore and senior year, while also serving as a co-leader in a student organized Bible study. Jackson served as the debate and esports captain of the House of Homer. While attending Samford, Jackson plans to study English and is considering a classics double major. After graduation, Jackson intends to pursue earning a PhD to achieve his goal of becoming a college professor in the field of liberal arts.

Addie Crawford

During her high school years, Addie was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and BEST robotics competition. She played varsity basketball and varsity softball, while keeping statistics for the other basketball teams. Addie has also interned with HD Intelligence over the past two years. Addie plans to study Marketing with a concentration in Sports Analytics at Samford, where she has already been accepted into the Early Acceptance Program for Sports Analytics and into University Fellows Honors. After graduation, Addie aspires to earn a Master's degree and use her degrees to assist collegiate or professional sports teams.

Lily Dart

During High School, Lily held multiple leadership positions in her church and school. She enjoys caring for children, philosophy, swimming, cooking, and visiting other cultures. While at Samford, Lily plans to study Education and French. After graduation, Lily aspires to teach high schoolers the beauty of learning another language by becoming a French teacher.

Katie Davidson

Before attending Samford, Katie was classically educated through several homeschool hybrid programs including The Classical School and Metro Academic Studies. These programs helped her to garner an intense curiosity and love of learning. During her time at these schools, Katie was a member of the speech and debate club, where she qualified in both categories for Nationals all four years of high school, and participated in the drama club, both on and off the stage. Katie plans to pursue a degree in the Howard College of Arts and Sciences. Katie cannot wait to see where Samford takes her!

Abigail Den Hartog

As a nursing major and a Fellow, Abigail is excited to combine her interest in biology with her love of history and literature at Samford! Outside of her studies, Abigail sings with the Samford University Chorale and plays piano. She enjoys road tripping with her family throughout the U.S., and has even made some solo trips to Oregon and Pennsylvania. Abigail's hobbies include running, baking, and eating ice cream. While still attending Lake Wales High School, Kate was a member of both the school’s IB program, and Veterinary Assisting Career Academy, and graduated third in her class. She participated in many organizations around campus, including FFA, the Class of 2024’s Executive Board, where she served as Vice President, and NHS. Off campus Kate participated in many volunteer opportunities, such as promoting literacy with her local library, and club activities such as 4H. While at Samford Kate hopes to be involved with many different campus organizations, and further her understanding of the world through a classical lens.

Maddox Evans

Before coming to Samford, Maddox attended Westminster School at Oak Mountain. There, he was very involved in both athletics and the arts. He played baseball and ran cross country. He was vice president of HOSA, and he even started his school’s jazz band. Maddox is now studying music on a pre med track with his ultimate goal of being an orthopedic surgeon.

Libby Fitts

Libby graduated from St. Paul's Episcopal High School in Mobile, AL. She was a member of the National Art Honor's Society, National Honors Society, and an AP Scholar with distinction. At St. Paul's, she enjoyed cross-country, playing the violin and ceramics class. She also loved serving on the youth leadership team at her church. She plans to major in English with a minor in French and one day hopes to be a teacher. She has enjoyed participating in Samford Outdoor Adventure Club and Reformed University Fellowship this year and cannot wait to see what the rest of her Samford experience has to offer.

Campbell Gossett

Prior to coming to Samford, Campbell was a member of the student council and honor council at Christian Brothers High School. He was an AP and National Merit Scholar, and he was also inducted into the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. While in high school, he was active in his youth ministry and a member of many clubs on campus. Campbell was a member of both the soccer and golf teams at Christian Brothers. At Samford, Campbell intends to major in Biology on the Pre-Medicine track. After graduation, Campbell plans on attending medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon.

Ry Jesser
Major: Neuroscience (Pre-Med)
Hometown: Sarasota, FL
Prior to coming to Samford, Ry had the honor of being inducted into the Cum Laude Society. Moreover, he was a recipient of the Columbia Book Award and received academic excellence awards in English, History, Science, and was an invitee to Latin Nationals. In addition, Ry was also a member of the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society. Apart from academic pursuits, Ry was a TAPPS Football State Champion, 4-Year Club and Varsity Baseball Player, and a 4-Year Student Ambassador. Ry has also been an involved member of his community with hundreds of hours of service while acting as the Vice President of the Young Men's Service League. For his major, Ry plans to study Neuroscience on a pre-med track. During his time at Samford, Ry has become a member of University Fellows, Freshman Forum, Phi Gamma Delta, The Neuroscience Club, The Red Cross Club, and is a Community Cadre volunteer of ExpectCare Hospice. Following graduation, Ry plans to attend medical school and use his degree in the aspiration of becoming a physician.

Prior to coming to Samford, Walker was a member of the National Honor Society and the Cum Laude Society at Battle Ground Academy. Walker also served as team captain of the varsity tennis team his junior year at Battle Ground Academy. Walker is still undecided in his major, but is hoping to study either English or History during his time at Samford. He is currently planning to find work after graduation.

Before coming to Samford, Isabel was a National Honor Society member, National Athletic Honor Society member, and AP Scholar at Bishop Moore Catholic High School. While in high school, she served as a captain for the Bishop More Girls Lacrosse Team and was a prominent member in the Leadership and Service group. While attending Samford, Isabel plans to study Business Marketing. After graduation, she aspires to earn her MBA and then use her degree for social media PR and engagement for businesses and sports teams.

Owens Lopiccolo

Prior to coming to Samford, Owens was a National Honor Society member, a member of Trinity Collegiate’s equestrian team, head of Trinity’s non-competitive video game club, and an AP Capstone Scholar. She also volunteered with St Luke’s Methodist Church as a lay reader and harpist. At Samford, Owens plans to study Architecture. After graduation, she hopes to work in developing affordable housing.

Annabelle Mullenix

Prior to coming to Samford, Annabelle was a National Merit Scholar, Student Body Secretary, Spanish Honor Society Treasurer, and National Honor Society member. While in high school, she served on the leadership, serve, and worship teams for her youth group. Annabelle is currently undecided, but while at Samford, she hopes to study Spanish and a missions-related subject area. After graduation, Annabelle aspires to use her degrees to serve in a missions-related field.

Katie Nelson

Before coming to Samford, Katie played Varsity soccer, served on Work Crew at LLYC, and participated in Honors Art. Katie plans to study Nursing at Samford, and intends to eventually earn her Masters to become a Nurse Practitioner. At the moment, she would like to specialize in Sports Medicine Nursing, and work for a professional sports team.

Presley Parrish

As a former high school student, Presley participated in competitive theater through Spark Theater Company, alongside being in multiple shows through her school's drama department, was the treasurer of the National Honor Society, as well as the Senior Class Secretary, and was the president of a non-profit organization, Dothan Adolescent Community Youth Advisory Council. She loves leadership, writing about the human experience through faith, the arts in general, and learning. Presley hopes to attain her bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Science and then attend law school, in order to become a child's advocate and family attorney. She is passionate about helping people and hopes her career path will allow her to make a difference in the lives of the vulnerable.

Sarah Parrish

Throughout her academic career, Sarah has fully engaged in the classroom, resulting in her receiving the Cum Laude Award, honoring the highest GPA in her high school graduating class. During high school, she also engaged in service through National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta (the national math honor society). Outside of the classroom, Sarah sought leadership opportunities, especially through Executive Student Council, by leading Kindness Club, by serving as President of Spirit Club, through an internship with the Chief Officer of Inclusion and Belonging, by leading in Operation Smile Club, and by leading Bible studies, especially through YoungLife. Competitive cheerleading and chorus have also been central to Sarah’s story. After enjoying a senior internship in interior design, she looks forward to continuing her education by majoring in Interior Design with the goal of eventually establishing her own design firm. Sarah plans to continue to lean into leadership and learning at Samford.

Abigail Petit

Before coming to Samford, Abigail had the privilege of being homeschooled K-12th grade, including attending several co-ops and tutorials with teachers who instilled within her a love for learning. Being homeschooled allowed her to delve into and excel in subjects like Math and English, as well as unique opportunities like studying Russian at the Honors level. Throughout high school, Abigail also frequently led worship at her youth group and was greatly involved in theatre, with opportunities to work on both musicals and straight plays. A highlight of her high school career was competing in New York in the finals of the English Speaking Union’s National Shakespeare Competition. As a musical theatre major at Samford, she hopes to further hone her craft and eventually perform professionally.

Lai'ana Reeves

Hometown: Indian Springs Village, AL
Before becoming a Samford Bulldog, Lai'ana graduated from Indian Springs, a private boarding and day school in our own sweet home Alabama. While there, she served as the Vice President of Indian Springs' Chamber and Treble Choirs, President and Founder of Indigenous Peoples Club, tutor for the writing center, TA for multiple English classes, and journalist for the school newspaper. She is also an AP Scholar with Distinction, a published poet and short-story writer, and a performed playwright. While attending Samford, Lai'ana plans to study English and Secondary Education to pursue her twin passions of telling stories and teaching others. She aspires to become a high school English teacher who has lots of tales to spin about her work as an author, director, and illustrator.

Ava Rockefeller

Prior to coming to Samford, Ava was a National Honor Society Secretary, the National Honor Society Vice President, and the Film Club President at Destrehan High School. She was also an AP Scholar with Distinction, as well as a National Merit Finalist and scholarship recipient. While attending Samford, Ava plans to study Architecture and work towards her Master's degree in this field. With this degree, she hopes to establish her own architecture firm with a concentration in sustainability and ecological design.

Kaitlyn Salter

Prior to Samford, Kaitlyn attended Covenant Day School in Matthews, North Carolina. She served as a team captain on the Varsity Tennis team, and was also a member of the Varsity Track and Field team as well as the Cheer team. She was a member of Beta Club, Spanish National Honors Society, Mock Trial, Common Grounds Coffee Shop, and served as President of the National Honors Society. She achieved an A Honor Roll all four years of high school, was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction, and was awarded with the Christian Leadership Award. She also tutored at-risk children through the Augustine Literacy Project and worked to build tiny homes in ContainIt. At Samford, Kaitlyn is currently undeclared and can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store her!

While attending Samford, Isabella plans to study psychology and neuroscience. After graduation, Isabella plans to pursue a medical degree or doctoral program to pursue a career in neuropsychology.

Prior to attending Samford, Hugh was homeschooled. He was a National Merit Scholarship Winner, an AP Scholar with Distinction, a United States Presidential Scholar candidate, and also received a perfect score on the ACT. Hugh appreciates the outdoors, the pipe organ, and time with his family and friends. He is devoted to his faith and is thankful for his local church. Soli Deo Gloria - To God alone be the glory.

JT Van Nostrand

Hometown: Warner Robins, GA
Before attending Samford, JT was heavily involved in AFJROTC, and served as the Corps Commander at his detachment. He loves throwing a frisbee around for fun, as well as playing acoustic guitar, bass, and piano in his free time, and at his church back home in Warner Robins, Georgia. While attending Samford, JT will be enrolled in AFROTC, and will commission into the Air Force and serve for at least 4 years. After the Air Force, JT wants to become an instructor at a JROTC detachment. JT is already getting involved in the music ministry at Samford, and in the Audio/Video team at his local church.

Sarah Grace attended a Christian Classical School in the Richmond area for K-12. She always enjoyed learning humanities and reading great books. In her time there, she played on the Varsity basketball team and was captain of the Varsity soccer team. After graduation, Sarah Grace plans to earn her Masters degree in Counseling and hopes to become a therapist.

Before attending Samford, Jane Lynn was a National Honor Society member, National French Honor Society Member, Vice President of French Club, recipient of the National Seal of Biliteracy, and a varsity rower. She also served two years leading her local WyldLife ministry. At Samford she is studying English with a concentration in Creative Writing. After graduation, Jane Lynn aspires to earn her Master's degree in Publishing and Writing and then use her degrees to work as an editor with the goal of becoming an author.

Abigail Wilson

Abigail Wilson is a freshman University Fellow from Huntsville, Alabama. Prior to coming to Samford, Abigail worked at Bailey Cove Speech Therapy, served as a National Honor Society Vice President, and was awarded a National Institutes of Health Eye on the Future Scholarship. While attending Samford, Abigail is studying Speech Language Pathology through the Fast-Track program. She is currently working to organize a Samford American Sign Language club. After graduating with her Masters degree, Abigail aspires to work in multidisciplinary teams to cultivate communication and success for her patients.

Sienna Zellner

Sienna played cello in the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra for 3 years and she now plays in the Samford orchestra. She enjoys playing piano as well as painting, drawing, and kayaking in her spare time. While at Samford she plans to study Speech Pathology and graduate with her masters degree. She hopes to one day work across the country in hospitals or in the military internationally.
