The Samford University Science and Religion Club received official unanimous approval from the Faculty Campus Life Committee on December 3. Sarah McGhee and Elizabeth are Co-Presidents and Dr. Steve Donaldson is the faculty sponsor.
The club has already been active, kicking off with a pizza Q&A with Dr. Josh Reeves, Dr. Emily Hynds, and Dr. Matt Kerlin around the theme Real Talk: Faith and Academics from the Professors’ Perspective. Other Fall events included student Q&A sessions with guests Dr. Denis Alexander from the University of Cambridge and Dr. Mark Harris from the University of Edinburgh. A number of activities are in the works for the Spring, 2016 semester.
Initial funding for the club comes from the Scholarship and Christianity in Oxford and the Oxford Interdisciplinary Seminars in Science and Religion: Bridging the Two Cultures of Science and the Humanities program in conjunction with a grant received by Dr. Donaldson.
