For 100 years, Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy has prepared graduates to serve patients, advance the pharmacy profession and make a difference in their communities. The school will commemorate this milestone Jan. 22-24, 2027, with a centennial anniversary weekend bringing together alumni, faculty, students and friends to honor its storied history and look ahead to its next century of impact.

The weekend will feature opportunities for fellowship, campus tours, continuing education and worship. Festivities will culminate with the McWhorter School of Pharmacy Centennial Gala on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 6-10 p.m. in Seibert Hall. Alumni are invited to return to campus, reconnect with classmates and celebrate the people, experiences and traditions that have shaped generations of Samford pharmacists.

Founded as part of Howard College in 1927, McWhorter School of Pharmacy began with a small group of students and faculty and grew into the largest pharmacy program in the South by the late 1930s. After relocating to the Homewood campus in 1957, the school spent nearly six decades in Ingalls Hall before moving to Samford’s College of Health Sciences facilities in 2016. Today, McWhorter continues to shape the future of pharmacy through innovative education, interprofessional collaboration and a longstanding commitment to integrating faith and learning.

As McWhorter marks its centennial year, the anniversary weekend offers an opportunity to honor the generations of students, faculty, alumni and friends whose dedication has shaped the school’s legacy. The milestone celebrates a century of excellence in pharmacy education while affirming the school’s ongoing commitment to advancing patient care, serving communities and preparing future leaders for an evolving healthcare landscape.

Alumni, friends and pharmacy partners are invited to be part of this historic occasion. Individual gala tickets are $100 through Nov. 15, 2026, and $125 thereafter. Reservations must be made by Dec. 1, 2026. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Visit the 100th Anniversary Weekend webpage for the full event schedule, ticket information and sponsorship details.
