Kim Benner is a Professor at the Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and a Pediatric Clinical Specialist at Children’s of Alabama. At Samford, Dr. Benner teaches in all four years in the pharmacy curriculum on a variety of topics centered around pediatrics, health-system pharmacy practice and senior research. She has maintained an active pharmacy practice at Children’s of Alabama for over 25 years in the PICU, general pediatrics and currently, the pulmonary division, where she also teaches students and residents of differing disciplines. Research interests and areas of publication include pediatrics, cystic fibrosis, and pharmacy education. Dr. Benner is active in many professional organizations, such as the Pediatric Pharmacy Association, the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) and its Alabama state affiliate, and the Alabama Pharmacy Association. She served a three-year term (2021-24) on the Board of Directors of ASHP and had previously served on Board of Pharmacy Specialties Pediatrics Council in 2013.
