Samford University’s senior class, which graduated May 17-18, has been selected as the brand ambassadors for May.

The person who nominated the class said, “This year’s class, collectively, has done more to promote Samford spirit in their involvement and leadership than any senior class in recent memory. Add to that their efforts with the senior class [fundraising] campaign, and you have a great group of brand ambassadors for Samford.”

During their four years at Samford, class members had been instrumental in organizing and leading the Red Sea student spirit group, pregame tailgating activities, community service projects and a variety of other initiatives. Several class members also held regional or national leadership roles in various organizations and had their academic work recognized regionally and nationally.

Several members of the class had been recognized individually earlier in the year as brand ambassadors of the month.

“When the person suggested the senior class as brand ambassadors of the month, it seemed like an obvious choice. I even selfishly said to myself ‘why didn’t I think of that?’,” said Philip Poole, who oversees the brand ambassador initiative. Poole is executive director of Samford’s Office of Marketing and Communication.

The “brand ambassador of the month” project was launched in January to promote the concept of every member of the university community as a "brand ambassador."

"Every member of the university community – students, employees, alumni, parents and all friends of the university -- represent Samford in all that they do," said Poole. "It is important for us to recognize that we are brand ambassadors and to put our best foot forward whether answering the telephone, greeting someone on campus or responding to an inquiry from a constituent."

But, Poole added, it also includes representing the university in the community, helping to tell the Samford story to those who may not be familiar with the university and ensuring that the university's brand is positively depicted.

Nominations for brand ambassador of the month should be submitted in writing to samnews@samford.edu amp;#160;.
