Samford will host about 250 area high school students and 75 teachers Saturday ( Jan. 19) at this year's Make A Change Leadership Institute.
The annual human relations program is sponsored by the National Conference for Community and Justice of Alabama.
The schedule involves workshops on group building, cross-cultural communication, critical thinking and inter-group dynamics. The student sessions are facilitated by teens who have previously trained at other NCCJ-sponsored programs. Adult staff members lead sessions for teachers.
Participants represent 38 schools in Birmingham and Jefferson County school districts, and in neighboring counties.
Located in the Homewood suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, Samford is a leading Christian university offering undergraduate programs grounded in the liberal arts with an array of nationally recognized graduate and professional schools.
