Samford University’s BFA in Theatre for Youth: Performance and Teaching Artistry blends performance training with a heart for service. Designed for aspiring performers, teaching artists and community leaders, this unique degree equips students to create inspiring, youth-focused theatre that educates and uplifts. Immediate Stage Opportunities

Students perform in mainstage and touring productions as early as their first year.

Global Community Engagement

Students have traveled internationally to share creative drama in places like Indonesia and the Dominican Republic.

Faith-Infused Learning

The program encourages students to integrate faith, service and artistry in a meaningful way.

Vocal and Dance Concentrations

Audition-based options in voice and dance provide additional studio training.

The BFA in Theatre for Youth offers a comprehensive curriculum focused on performance, creative drama, children’s literature, teaching artistry and theatre production.

Students Will

  • Perform and teach theatre for young audiences with creativity and empathy
  • Use acting, movement, world building, devising and puppetry to engage a variety of audiences
  • Direct, design and produce theatre for all ages
  • Understand child development and educational theory
  • Apply learned skills in a wide range of settings, from classrooms to global outreach
