More than 1,200 students across campus are preparing for the annual student-produced talent show, Step Sing, a tradition dating back to 1951.

Samford University has announced it will livestream Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening Step Sing performances beginning at 7 p.m. Winners will be announced at the end of the Saturday evening live stream.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the Thursday and Friday evening performances, and Saturday matinee. Saturday’s evening performance is sold out.

This year's event philanthropy partner is Community Food Bank of Central Alabama to raise funds for the Kids Meal Campaign that addresses childhood hunger in Birmingham and the surrounding counties.

The university’s Office of Alumni Programs will host an alumni reception before Friday night’s performance.

“The Step Sing Alumni Reception is truly a time for alumni to connect and reconnect with other alumni, reminisce about their Step Sing memories and look forward to enjoying the 2019 Step Sing performance,” Director of Alumni Programs, Casey Ramey said.

Charissa Carnall, Samford’s social media manager, is encouraging students, alumni, parents and other friends of the university to share their Step Sing experiences via social media.

“We want to chat with you on social media during Step Sing! Share with us your photos, videos, boomerangs, sweepstakes predictions, etc. whether you are in a show or attending a watch party and connecting via the livestream,” Carnall said. “Be sure to use #StepSing2019 or send them directly to us: @samfordu on Twitter and Instagram or Samford University on Facebook.
