Samford University’s Legacy League will host its annual scholarship luncheon Feb. 19 featuring Anita Renfroe, Christian comedian, musician and creator of “Momisms,” her comedic rendition of the “William Tell Overture.”
The scholarship luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Club, 1 Robert Smith Drive.
Tickets are $50, of which $25 is tax-deductible. In honor of Samford University’s Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education’s centennial celebration, the event will support a new need-based scholarship for a student pursuing a degree in education, according to Legacy League President Karen Bergquist.
Renfroe became an overnight Internet sensation with her “Momisms” video and has since packed venues with her own comedy concerts. She has been featured on several television programs such as ABC’s “Good Morning America,” “Dr. Phil,” CBS’s “The Early Show,” “Fox & Friends,” The Gospel Music Channel and Nickelodeon’s “Mom’s Night Out.” Renfroe debuted at the Grand Ole Opry in 2012.
“In keeping with our theme verse this year, ‘the joy of the Lord is our strength’, the Legacy League is thrilled to be hosting Anita Renfroe, a headliner with Women of Faith, when she brings her musical comedy and inspirational message to our scholarship luncheon,” said Bergquist.
