Samford School of the Arts alumnus Adam Murphy `11 and senior Jackson Pinder won a Silver Medal with their quartet, The Vigilantes, at the Barbershop Harmony Society's Harmony Foundation International Collegiate Barbershop Contest July 5 in Kansas City, Kan. The event was the 73rd Annual International Barbershop Society Convention, in which 50 additional quartets and 30 choruses from around the world also competed.
In addition to the group's medal, Murphy and Pinder were awarded a $1500 scholarship from Harmony Foundation International for participating in the competition.
The group's success at the competition is all the more remarkable because Murphy and Pinder met the other members of their quartet--Chase Guyton from Tennessee and Ian Galvin from South Carolina--just six months ago at the Society's Youth Choral Festival in Las Vegas.
