Samford University will graduate about 261 seniors during fall commencement Saturday, Dec. 17, in Wright Center at 10 a.m.
Bobby Horton, a musician and music historian and 1972 Samford accounting graduate, will speak. Known for his work to preserve American song, Horton has collaborated with documentary film maker Ken Burns on 13 projects, selecting and in some cases playing music for such Burns projects at The Civil War, Baseball, Lewis and Clark, The National Parks and others.
The Birmingham native is also a seasoned performer who plays instruments ranging from the banjo to the trumpet. He was a founding member of the band, Three on a String, and continues to perform with the popular trio.
