Samford's A Cappella Choir and University Chorale began their Spring Tour May 24 and will end it with an 8 p.m. concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City May 28.
The group took part in a service project with Graffiti Church in New York on May 25 and rested Thursday in preparation for the weekend concert.
Samford A Cappella Choir director Philip Copeland will conduct a combined choir of 195 choristers and New England Symphonic Ensemble for a performance of Maurice Duruflé's "Requiem".
The performance will mark Copeland's second time on the stage at Carnegie Hall under the auspices of MidAmerica Productions. The first was with a similar Birmingham-area combined choir. This time, in addition to Samford's A Cappella Choir, the choirs will include Alabama Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Mountain Brook Jr. League Choral Group, Whippany Park High School, (New Jersey), White Plains High School (New York) and Christopher Dock Mennonite High School (Pennsylvania). Samford alumna Dale Whitmire Reynolds will be performing her last concert with the Alabama Symphony Chorus for the event.
