Samford University's Beeson Divinity School will present a conference, "The Will to Believe and the Need for Creed: Evangelicals and the Nicene Creed," Sept. 28-30.

The program on the confessional and unifying purposes of the creeds of the Christian faith is designed for theologians, pastors and all Christians concerned with how to present faith in an age of increasing syncretism and radical pluralism.

Speakers include theologian Tom Oden, professor of theology and ethics at Drew University and director of the Center for Early African Christianity; Episcopal Church of Rwanda bishop John Rucyahana, whose ministry is noted for effective servant leadership in the midst of great challenges; and Beeson Divinity Dean Timothy George, noted author and specialist in church history and doctrine.

Other speakers include guest theologians David P. Nelson, Elizabeth Newman, Matt Pinson and Curtis Freeman, and Beeson faculty members Frank Thielman, Mark Gignilliat, Carl Beckwith, Steven Harmon and Mark Devine.

Registration fee of $95 includes all sessions and two meals. The program begins Monday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m., and ends Wednesday, Sept. 30, at noon.
