Samford University Theatre will open its 2007-08 season Sept. 14 and 15 with the lively Kander and Ebb musical review, The World Goes Round.
The musical theatre ensemble presentation will feature six students singing show stopping tunes from such Broadway hits as Cabaret, Chicago (including Mr. Cellophane and All That Jazz) and Kiss of the Spider Woman.
The works of composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb are, according to production director Dr. G. William Bugg, "entertaining and poignant, insightful and hilarious, and honest and raw."
The performers learned the material during the spring semester, and met twice during the summer for rehearsals, said Bugg.
Performers are Matt Andrews, Jeffrey Caulk, Ryan Ford, Rachel Holland, Caitlin Huie and Natalie Saxon. They will be accompanied by an instrumental ensemble.
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. in Bolding Studio. Tickets are $10 adults, $8 senior adults and $6 students/children. For information call (205) 726-2853.
