Samford University's School of Performing Arts faculty artists series continues Sunday, Oct. 28, with trumpeter Brad Sargent, clarinetist Ann Sargent and pianist Kathryn Fouse in recital at 2:30 p.m. in Brock Recital Hall. The public is invited free of charge.

The program will include Joseph Turrin's "Caprice," Johannes Brahms' "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in E-flat Major," Flor Peeters' "Sonata for Trumpet and Piano," Igor Stravinsky's "Three Pieces for Clarinet Solo," and Eugene Bozza's "Badinage."

Brad Sargent, assistant professor of music, teaches applied trumpet and directs the Samford jazz ensemble, trumpet ensemble and student brass quintet. A regular performer with local and area jazz bands and symphony orchestras, holds a doctor of musical arts degree in trumpet performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He joined the Samford faculty in 2000.

Ann Sargent has taught applied clarinet at Samford since 2003. She holds a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of North Carolina, where she also taught. She has performed with symphony orchestras in several states, including a 1999 solo performance of Karl Nielsen's clarinet concerto with the North Carolina Symphony.

Fouse is associate professor and coordinator of piano pedagogy and class piano at Samford. A solo performer and professional accompanist, she is a frequent staff accompanist for international competitions and festivals. She holds a doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance from the University of North Texas. She is president of the Alabama Music Teachers Association.
