Milburn Price, dean of Samford University's School of Performing Arts, received the 2006 Choral Excellence Award presented by the Southern Division of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).
Dr. Price received the award at the biennial meeting of the Southern Division Convention in Charleston, W.Va., on Feb. 24. He was cited for his outstanding contributions to choral art in the Southern Division, an 11-state area extending from Virginia to Louisiana.
Price has been involved in ACDA activities at state, regional and national levels for more than 38 years. He was southern division president during1993-95 and national president during 1999-2001.
He joined the Samford faculty as music dean in 1993 after 12 years as dean of the School of Church Music at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. At Samford, he conducts the A Cappella Choir and the University Orchestra.
