Samford University debaters Erin Ramsey and John Wilkerson teamed to win the University of Florida Tournament held Jan. 27-29 in Gainesville, Fla.

Ramsey and Wilkerson defeated Vanderbilt University in the final round to capture the top spot. They had defeated University of Miami in the semi-finals and Florida State University in the quarter-finals.

Wilkerson was named the seventh best individual speaker of the 45 debaters at the tournament.

Ramsey is a freshman political science from Peachtree City, Ga. Wilkerson is a junior history major from Macon, Ga.

In another tournament Jan. 27-29, Samford debaters Nick Agnello and Clark Bowers finished third at a tournament at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. The duo lost to Wayne State University in the semi-final round. Angello was named third best individual speaker and Bowers fifth best speaker of the 70 debaters at the tournament.

Agnello is a sophomore political science major from Snellville, Ga. Bowers is a junior political science major from Sylacauga.
