Students in Samford University’s School of Business and Cumberland School of Law are available to assist low income and senior citizens with filing federal and state tax forms, free of charge.

The students work through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, which provided training and materials to the volunteers. The business students who volunteer are members of Beta Alpha Psi accounting honor society. The Cumberland law students have experience and background with tax-related matters.

The volunteers are available in the first floor conference room at the Downtown YWCA each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, through April 15, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Returns may be filed electronically on behalf of the taxpayer.

Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary.
