Cumberland School of Law Jumps in Trial Competition Performance Rankings, Ranks 4th Nationally
Samford University Cumberland School of Law’s national trial team has been ranked 4th in the nation in the 2023-24 Trial Competition Performance Rankings (TCPR), up one from the No. 5 spot the team held for 2022-23. This places Cumberland 3rd overall since the rankings were first released in 2016, also up one spot from the previous year.

Samford University Cumberland School of Law will host its inaugural law school pipeline program, May 19-23, 2025. The Cumberland Connection Law School Immersion Program will motivate and inspire first-generation law students, and/or those who have overcome significant obstacles, to pursue a legal education and, ultimately, a career in law.

Samford University alumna Kendall Jarrard has been selected to participate in the U.S. Department of State’s prestigious Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program for the summer of 2024. Jarrard, one of approximately 500 American students chosen from over 5,000 applicants, studied Chinese through the program.

In August 2024, the American Bar Association (ABA) Law Student Division published its ranking of the top 10 law school competition teams in arbitration, negotiation, client counseling, mediation and appellate advocacy. Cumberland School of Law ranked 8th in the nation for the 2023-24 competition season.

White Jr. Trial Advocacy Institute, Nov. 8, 2024, in Birmingham, Alabama. Greg Sankey, commissioner of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), will serve as the keynote speaker.
