Senior Samford University biology major Sarah Thomas was one of five students representing the university at the 2021 SoCon Undergraduate Research Forum (SURF) at Wofford College Oct. 29-30.
Thomas, a neuroscience minor, presented her research on a novel planarian she has been working on since she was a sophomore with the help and encouragement of research mentor David Johnson. She also had an opportunity to network and learn from other attendees. “My favorite part of the conference was being able to hear from the other students because they were all as excited about their research as I am about mine!” she said.
Thomas plans to pursue a career in medicine, and began interviewing for medical schools this fall.
