Samford University’s chapter of the Theta Alpha Kappa religious studies and theology honorary society will sponsor a free Feb. 15 Zoom event featuring Samford Professor of Hebrew Bible Jeffery Leonard and scholars Mark Gignilliat (Beeson Divinity School) and Brent Strawn (Duke Divinity School).
Leonard will discuss his new book–Creation Rediscovered: Finding New Meaning in an Ancient Story–in which he contends that setting the biblical creation accounts back within their ancient context enables readers to both take the biblical texts seriously and appreciate scientific insight into creation. Gignilliat and Strawn will respond to his presentation, and audience members will be invited to take part in a question-and-answer session following those responses.
