Samford chemistry professor Dale Wilger has received an $8,000 summer research grant from the journal Organic Synthesisto support his research with students.
The Organic Syntheses, Inc. Grant for Summer Research at an Undergraduate Institution will provide a $5,000 stipend for a student working in Wilger’s lab for at least 10 weeks in summer, and an additional $3,000 for materials and supplies.
“This is a fantastic award, and acknowledges Dale’s research productivity, potential, and mentoring of students in his research laboratory,” said Chemistry and Biochemistry Department chair Chris Pursell.
At the conclusion of the summer project, Wilger and the selected student will co-author a report of their work, giving the student further hands-on experience in the practice of research.
