Talk: Public Health Careers: Working to Improve the Health and Well-Being of Communities in Jefferson County

Kimberly Todd will share insights into career opportunities in public health, focusing on how the Jefferson County Department of Health addresses pressing challenges to improve community health. Students will gain perspective on professional pathways that integrate science, service, and policy to positively impact local populations.

Todd has over 25 years of extensive experience in Human Resources Management and holds a master’s degree in public administration.  She has worked in corporate consulting, federal government, private sector and local governement spaces. Her area of expertise has been start up initiatives for organziations who were interested in establishing and organizing a viable, compliant human resources department. Prior to relocating to Birmingham, she worked as an HR director for a federal government agency in Washington, DC for 17 years. Currently she is a human resources project coordinator for the Jefferson County Department of Health. Her primary responsibility is oversight of all talent acquisition efforts for the health department. She works collaboratively with the personnel board of Jefferson County to secure the best talent to fill vacancies at all levels within the organization. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, watching football (Go Buckeyes!) and traveling with her husband.
