As Rachel Fuentes entered her freshman year at Samford, she sought a thriving campus with an uplifting community, Christ-centered education, and academic programs in political science. Dulce Rivera’s journey to Samford wasn’t just about pursuing higher education; it was about navigating familial expectations, overcoming self-doubt and discovering her own path to success. Now, as an alumna, Dulce is the CEO of Birmingham-based Mi Pueblo Supermarket. Over the last 19 years, this family-owned business has become a staple in Birmingham and a leader in the local Hispanic community. Dulce was also recently inducted in the 40th class of Birmingham Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40.”
