“Through mentorship, students not only navigate the complexities of academia with confidence but also develop life skills, create meaningful connections with peers and faculty, and ultimately transform their Samford experience into a journey of personal, spiritual and academic growth.”

Personal Mentorship

Faculty and staff members, like De’Janae Tookes, walk alongside students during their college years and beyond, encouraging them to become the best versions of themselves. Now, as a mentor to students, she cherishes the opportunity to pay it forward, helping others unlock their potential and achieve their goals.

Mentorship at Samford means opportunities for undergraduate research, meaningful internships, and forged relationships with leaders in your field.  Most importantly, it exemplifies the deep connection between faith and learning. Students find a deeper connection to the Samford community and beyond through these valuable relationships during their time at Samford so they can go out and change their communities for God’s glory.

Community is vital to a positive college experience. With so many students coming from such diverse backgrounds, it’s important that their university feels like a home away from home.

Experiences that Awaken

Samford is small enough to offer enriching, in-depth opportunities for personal and career development. With our intimate student-to-faculty ratio, students receive access to ample opportunities to travel and experience internships in a way most other schools cannot offer.

On campus, you can prepare for your future by engaging in original research, joining our Prelaw Scholars programs for careers in law, government, or business. Or, through gaining hands-on healthcare experience at our Experiential Learning and Simulation Center or refining your talents in our recording and art studios or on stage.

Abroad, the Daniel House in central London, anchors our global programs. From Belfast to Jerusalem to Hong Kong, these experiences offer practical career preparation and transformative encounters with diverse people, languages, ideas, and cultures.

Growth Through Travel

Jenny Acuff (Class of 1999) and L.E. Acuff (Class of 2026) both experienced the opportunity of a lifetime to study abroad in London at the Daniel House during their time at Samford. L.E. felt fortunate to embark on a similar journey as her mother, Jenny, who had also participated in the same program 25 years prior. Jenny, reminiscing on her own time at the Daniel House, noted the similarities between her experience and her daughter’s: They both navigated a whole new world of systems, grew academically, and engaged in countless adventures during their time in London. Study abroad programs like the Daniel House are unique to Samford because of their ability to broaden students’ perspectives, bond with other students and faculty and achieve real work experience abroad. Adventure awaits at Samford.
