During this time of year, many people’s thoughts turn to the spooky and supernatural. How can the church use this opportunity to communicate the gospel in an appropriate and meaningful way?

 

This campus-wide lecture will explore strange tales of ghosts and spirits. Along with examining a biblical response to such matters, the lecture will consider the work of 16th-century Swiss Protestant reformer Ludwig Lavater, who published Of Ghosts and Spirites Walking by Nyght. Attention will also be given to the extensive accounts of the Wesley family concerning the poltergeist said to have haunted the family parsonage during the 18th century.
