Chad Carson, dean of Samford University’s Brock School of Business, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Southern Business Administration Association (SBAA), a regional organization representing collegiate business programs offered by colleges and universities in the southern United States. Effective as of January 2025, Carson will serve on the board through 2027.
The SBAA mission is to "improve management education by providing networking opportunities for business educators, showcasing best practices, promoting innovation in teaching and scholarship, and encouraging leadership in the management of educational programs." Howard Finch, former dean of Brock School of Business, also served a three-year term on the SBAA board.
“SBAA provides outstanding training and development for deans and other business school administrators,” said Carson. “I’m honored to follow in Howard Finch’s footsteps in serving on its Board of Directors.”
Carson has served as the dean of Brock School of Business since 2019. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and a clear vision to advance the school’s mission—to deliver life-long education to its constituents through quality teaching, meaningful scholarship, and servant relationships, imbued by its Christian commitment.
As a distinguished academic leader, Carson is a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Scholarship Award from Brock School of Business and was previously named the “Outstanding Educator” by the Federation of Business Disciplines / Southwest Case Research Association.
Additionally, Carson has published more than 50 peer reviewed articles in leading academic journals such as The Journal of Managerial Psychology, Case Research Journal, Educational and Psychological Measurement, Management Decision, Journal of Managerial Issues and Human Performance.
“The networking, benchmarking and peer-to-peer conversations that occur within SBAA are invaluable to Brock School of Business’ dean’s office, including associate dean, Jeremy Thornton, who has been involved in SBAA for the past five years as well,” stated Carson. “SBAA’s community of deans and administrators are always willing to openly and honestly discuss challenges and opportunities associated with leading business programs in the region. Being involved in this organization benefits Brock School of Business in many impactful ways.”
Brock School of Business is an AACSB-accredited institution and is a recognized leader and school of choice among institutions offering undergraduate and graduate business education informed by Christian principles.
