Jaroslaw Szurek has a master's degree in musicology with specialization in early music from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, and a master's degree in information science from the University at Albany, SUNY. His research interests include music of the 16th century, early music theory and music metadata. He contributed articles to the Polish Encyclopedia of Music. He is married to Wiesia, and they have two children, Daniel and Anna.
