Legal Interests

My legal interests include financial services law, particularly related to investment firms, as well as securities regulation more broadly. I am also interested in mergers and acquisitions and white-collar crime.

Outside Interests/Hobbies

Outside of school, I enjoy powerlifting, playing tennis and golf, and bouldering at various places around Birmingham. SCUBA diving is another favorite of mine whenever I get the chance.

What do you think is the BEST thing about Cumberland?

The best thing about Cumberland is the strong sense of community. Both students and faculty are incredibly supportive, always willing to help each other succeed, and ensure that no one is ever without a friend. The positive, healthy social environment here truly sets Cumberland apart.

Why did you choose Cumberland?

I chose Cumberland because it offers a supportive and positive environment where students are encouraged to grow both academically and personally. As a first-generation law student from a smaller town, I knew that having a strong network and a solid support system would be essential to my success. Cumberland stands out for its commitment to helping students thrive, with faculty, peers, and alumni who genuinely care about each other’s success.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

I love studying law in Birmingham because it offers the perfect balance of urban energy and peaceful natural spaces. I can relax on a quiet hill overlooking the city or head to one of the many cozy coffee shops to study. The city also has a vibrant events scene, and I personally enjoy attending Birmingham Bulls hockey matches with my friends. On top of that, the food scene here is amazing, with so many great options that it's hard to find a place I don’t enjoy.

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?

If I could give advice to my pre-law school self, I would say not to stress. Many people have done this before, and it is really just as simple as reading, writing, and logical thinking; there is no need to overcomplicate it. Some of our professors did this without computers, so I am sure I can handle it. As long as I put in the effort and do my best, everything will work out just fine.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to work for a firm or government agency, ideally focusing on one of my legal interests. Further down the line, I hope to become a law professor.
