Born and raised in South Korea, Dr. Ean Ju Davis received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Myong-Ji University, Seoul Korea (Summa Cum Laude), a Masters of Music in Piano Solo Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Doctorate in Musical Arts in Piano Performance, With Emphasis in Collaborative Arts from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. She served as Visiting Assistant Professor and Staff Accompanist at the University of Houston and Staff Accompanist at the University of St. Thomas.

During her graduate studies, she was awarded a scholarship to perform at the International Music Festival in Marktoberdorf, Germany. In addition, she was invited to The Quartet Program (Director: Charles Castleman, a renowned violinist, a former chair of string department at the Eastman School of Music) as a Faculty Pianist for four seasons. Active as a collaborative pianist, she has accompanied numerous artists in recital and master classes such as Midori, Pamela Frank, Donald Weilerstein, Sylvia Rosenberg, Karen Tuttle, Paul Cantor, James Dunham, and Charles Castleman. Her accompanying experience has also included chorale groups such as the Houston Symphony Chorus and the Concert Chorale at the University of Houston. Of note, she has appeared several times on Houston Public Radio’s Front Row series: accompanying David Kirk, Principal Tuba of the Houston Symphony; Xiao Wang, Winner of the 2012 Szigeti International Violin Competition; and Jessica Findley, Winner of the 2013 Cynthia Mitchell Young Artist Concerto Competition.

For the past 25 years, Dr. Davis has delighted in providing piano instruction to numerous students of all ages and levels from age 5 to adults.  In the Houston area, this included private lessons and as well as teaching at Campbell Learning Center and St. John’s School (students in grade K-12).  She was a member of the Houston Music Teachers Association and Houston Federation of Music Club.

Since relocating from Houston to Birmingham in Summer 2023, she has accompanied undergraduate and graduate vocalists in the Samford University Music Department. Dr. Davis looks forward to contributing to Samford Academy piano program by sharing her experience in teaching and performance and love for music.
